Review: Cannibillies

A modern day family of redneck cannibals stalk the Ohio countryside.
Written by James Orrell
Cannibillies is one of the most grotesque, deplorable and generally fucked up short films I have seen all year. It is so disgusting and yet so funny that I couldn't turn away. With a thirty five minute runtime it moves at a solid pace, jumping from one act of depravity to another. And I do mean depravity. Eating aborted fetuses levels of depravity.
Needless to say, I loved the hell out of Cannibillies.
Despite the acts that take place on the screen the film is genuinely funny and had me laughing more often than not. The actors all helped in that regard. Everyone on screen did their job well and deserve recognition for that. How they got through most of the scenes and dialogue without cracking up is beyond me. Our own Adam Holtzapfel had a great little cameo. The man rocked the hell out of being a dead body!
In terms of gore, well, I'm not going to ruin that for you. If you like your meat rare, then this is definitely the short film for you. It get's very bloody very quickly.
If you like a mean spirited yet hilarious slice of horror, then this is the short film for you. I've watched it three times now and I genuinely enjoy the hell out of it. Cannibillies is not afraid to push boundaries. Hell, it shatters them. Do yourself a favor and check it out as soon as you can!
