Forrest "Jackerman" Cited as Inspiration for New FM

Postby Mr. Chainsaw » Tue Jul 20, 2010 7:12 pm

Just got this in my email inbox and didnt know whether to chuckle or facepalm.

For Immediate Release:

PHILIP KIM trashes Forrest J Ackerman's name in Re-born issue of Famous Monsters

Did PHILIP KIM, the new Famous Monsters owner, really publish that his "inspiration" was someone named Forrest "JACKERMAN" in the masthead of the new reborn issue of Famous Monsters #251. Yes, ladies and gentleman, the Typo of the Decade Award goes to... FM Publisher Philip Kim.

Not only was the attendance at the Famous Monsters convention in Indiana reportedly "much weaker than expected" (source:FromDuskTillCon), and their lead draw, actor Thomas Jane (Hung) was a no-show, but now Philip Kim is dealing with an embarrassing typo. Could you come up with a worse typo than misspelling the name of your "inspiration?" Jackerman? Really??

Girls and Corpses Magazine's Deaditor-In-Chief, R.S. Rhine, laughed, "Forry Ackerman would be rolling in his grave... er... I meant Jackerman."

(*See attached masthead from Famous Monsters #251)

In your article about Texas Frightmare Weekend, you misspelled Loyd Cryer\'s name 7 times. That\\\'s a lot worse than a missing space between the middle initial and the last name.

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess thats why FDTC is a public access channel and FM is a big important heavy hitter. You should also point out that I purposely never use apostrophes either.

Gotta love a good troll. Especially one that pays such close attention to your work over time. Thanks for the continued support! :D

Good to see our little multi-accounting lurker is back and apparently still keeping a close eye.

You gotta love having competent web security specialists running your site who are able to gather info from servers even beyond pedestrian IP cloaking software.

Using a proxy website is not IP cloaking software. Web security specialists my ass. And I thought famous monsters wasnt a big heavy hitter. You said their convention only got 1500 people, but your website apparently gets over 10,000 visits per day. If that is true, then you are the heavy hitter, arent you? It would seem that if you were as big as what you claim to be, you would have had more than 20 people come to the famous monsters convention because of your site. Id love to see you prove those numbers.

::sigh::

You gotta love an anonymous keyboard warrior, especially the kind that has been following your work for a long time and studies you so intently. Its that kind of dedication that has helped FDTC grow by 25% every month and help it be on track to grow by 100% this month.

Once again, thank you for the continued support! :D

Mr. C is responsible for the majority of the content on FDTC. He acts as creator, writer, editor, moderator, administrator, etc. etc. etc.

So he misspelled Loyd's name (I've seen it spelled both ways).

Famous Monsters has an entire staff at its disposal. Including, I'm sure, someone responsible soley for proof-reading, fact checking etc. For them to make such an error is a much larger faux pas. You are talking about the man who brought FM to life. Better attention should have been paid before sending the issue to print.

I'm sure it is a mistake that will be made once and once only.

As for our little stalker....

In a blaze of blood, bones, and body parts, the vivacious young girl was instantly reduced to a tossed human salad...a salad that police are still trying to gather up...a salad that was once named Elizabeth.
