Review: SATANARCHIST - First Against The Wall

Portland metal/punk duo SATANARCHIST bring their follow up to 2014’s Making Threats At Punks again with First Against The Wall, a perfect blend of death, thrash, crust, and d-beat.
by Adam Holtzapfel
First Against The Wall is 10 tracks clocking in at a brutal 40 minutes. Recorded and mixed by Fester at Haywire Studios (Usnea, Rabbits, Stoneburner) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Integrity, Nails) you get an album full of rage.
The album kicks off with Paradox a thrash fueled track with guttural vocals as John Edwards (guitar/vocals) screams “feel nothing” toward the end of the track complimented by Mark Nunziata’s drumming. The album is full of the bands philosophies on Satanism, atheism, and anarchism. Those philosophies fuse tightly with a heavy thrash and powerviolence.
The standout tracks for me are Paradox, Be At Peace, Feast (holy shit the opening sounds like the four horsemen of the apocalypse coming for you), Unknown, and Suffer.
If you're a fan of bands like Weekend Nachos, Nails, Autopsy, and heavy music in general then this will be right at home in your collection.
